Feature Comparison

CloudBerry Backup features varying level of integration with different cloud storage providers. Some of it is due to the implementation of CloudBerry Backup, and some of it stems from the specific characteristics of a cloud storage. For example, some storage providers offer exclusive functionality that is unavailable on other services.

Before you proceed to back up your data, ensure that the cloud storage you use meets all the requirements. The following table will help you get a clear picture of what feature set is available for each cloud storage:

CloudBerry Backup uses two different approaches for processing various kinds of backups. For this reason, some of the features may become unavailable when using certain storage providers as a destination for your backups.

Block-level backup is not available for Microsoft SQL Server backups, because they are processed using the native SQL backup mechanism.

Processing File-level Backups

Block-level backup is not available when selecting any of the following storage providers as a destination for a file-level backup:

  • Amazon Cloud Drive
  • Amazon Glacier (except when using S3-to-Glacier lifecycle policies)
  • Google Drive
  • One Drive
  • CloudBerry Dedup Server

Processing Image-based and Hyper-V Backups

Block-level backup is not available when selecting any of the following storage providers as a destination for an image-basedor Hyper-V backup:

  • Amazon Cloud Drive
  • Amazon Glacier (except when using S3-to-Glacier lifecycle policies)
  • Google Drive
  • One Drive

VMware and Microsoft Exchange Server backups always use block-level backup by default, unless you select any of the above storage providers.
